What live betting is and how in-play prices move
Once a match starts, the bookmaker keeps repricing its open markets. A goal, a red card, a break of serve or a long spell with no score changes the chance of each outcome, and the odds follow. The example below shows the pattern for the home side in a 1X2 market.

A short live price is not a safe bet. A price of 1.20 implies an 83.3% chance, so by its own numbers the slip still goes down one time in six, and the bookmaker's margin is built into that price. Planning a live slip that must run to full time
With no documented cash out to fall back on, the decisions that count in live sports betting happen before you tap confirm.
- Stake for the full match. Pick an amount you can afford to lose if the match ends the wrong way.
- Treat a bet on the other side as a new bet. Backing the opposite outcome in play can lock in a smaller return or a smaller loss, but the bookmaker's margin sits inside both prices, so you pay it twice.
- Count every leg of an express. One wrong selection, live or prematch, loses the whole express. The express bonus runs from 7% for 5 events to 15% for 11 or more and is paid only when every leg comes in; see the express bonus guide.
- Never raise the stake to recover a loss mid-match. A chasing bet gets placed faster than it gets thought through.
Streams, mobile data and the 1win app

Video uses far more data than the odds page, so on a small bundle follow the score and open the stream only when you need it.
